- They met on Tinder and they had been talking for seven months. Only recently have they started to hang out with each other.
- As reported earlier, Rippon will be part of the all-athletes edition of 'Dancing with the Stars'.

Grindr Under Fire for Sharing User Information about HIV Status to Third Parties

– On Monday, Buzzfeed published a report detailing how Grindr had been sharing the HIV status of its users they disclosed on their profiles, along with other information like their emails, to two other companies, Apptimize and Localytics (two app optimizing services/companies).
– Later that day, Grindr's chief technology officer Scott Chen said,“This information is always transmitted securely with encryption, and there are data retention policies in place to further protect our users' privacy from disclosure.”
– It was first noticed by researcher Antoine Pultier at Norweigan research non-profit company SINTEF, who said the main issue he initially saw was that HIV status was linked to users' other information, including ethnicity, GPS position, sexuality, and phone ID, which are viewable via plain text and easy to hack. James Krellenstein, a member of ACT UP New York dedicated to the AIDS crisis, said to Buzzfeed that Grindr's practices were“an egregious breach of basic standards”.
– Cooper Quintin, senior staff technologist and security researcher at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, said to BuzzFeed, said,“It allows anybody who is running the network or who can monitor the network — such as a hacker or a criminal with a little bit of tech knowledge, or your ISP or your government — to see what your location is."
– Grindr has since said they will stop sharing HIV information with third parties. Chief security officer for Grindr Bryan Case however, said that Grindr was being "singled out", and that comparing it to Cambridge is unfair,"It’s conflating an issue and trying to put us in the same camp where we really don’t belong." Case also said the information shared with Apptimize was part of an upcoming roll-out to remind users to get tested for HIV. Localytics is software for internal use, though Case did not say whether or not the data shared with them would be deleted.
– Quintin said there is "no reason" Grindr should've been sharing this information in the first place."Grindr should be taking extra steps to secure this sort of very personal data." Apptimize and Localytics did not respond to requests for comment.
– HIV is still highly criminalized in the US and throughout the world. On Jan. 20th 2017, Trump closed down the White House Office of AIDS Policy. This news comes not long after Craiglist officially closed down.

Sean Hannity, who is desperate for viewers after last month where Rachel Maddow's show was the highest rated cable program, has decided to grab that attention by feuding with Jimmy Kimmel. They've been going at it for the past couple days.

As it continued this afternoon, Kimmel proved that in some ways he might not be so far from his Man Show self after all by pulling a Chelsea Handler. His joke was so funny he tweeted it twice.

Australian Rugby Star Says Gay People Go To Hell Unless They Repent Their Sins and "turn to god"

– On April 2nd, rugby star Israel Folau made an Instagram post with the above image. When asked in the comments by one user, "what was gods plan for gay people??" Folau replied, "HELL... Unless they repent of their sins and turn to god."
– Raelene Castle, chief executive of Rugby Australia, had this to say: “Israel’s comment reflects his personal religious beliefs but it does not reflect the view of Rugby Australia or NSW Rugby. We are aligned in our view that rugby is a game for all, regardless of sexuality, race, religion or gender, which is clearly articulated in Rugby’s inclusion policy. We understand that Israel’s comment has upset a number of people and we will discuss the matter with him as soon as possible.”
– Rugby Australia said they don't agree with Folau's comments. Folau is part of the Wallabies Australia national rugby team and had his big break back in 2013. After Castle put out the above statement, Rugby Australia put out a second one saying they would meet with Folau. But as of just today, they haven't actually followed through. Austalian airline Qantas backed Rugby Australia's response of tolerance, saying that Folau's remarks were "disappointing".
– Folau has aired his homophobic views before to no consequence: In September 2017 he tweeted, "I love and respect all people for who they are and their opinions. but personally, I will not support gay marriage.✌❤🙏" Folau has not taken down this past tweet or the instagram post.

'Anything' trailer and interview about how Matt Bomer prepared for role as transgender sex worker

This is the movie that caused drama last year when it was announced that Matt Bomer would be playing a transgender sex worker. Mark Ruffalo ("I am glad we are having this conversation. It's time.") is an exec producer.

Kylene K. Steele, a transgender woman, is an associate producer on the movie. It's her first movie.

Steele said she was blown away by Bomer's performance. She says she thinks the part should go to the actor, and that trans (women) should play women. Steele goes on to add that an actor doesn't need to be trans to play trans characters.

Steele wants audiences to watch first, then judge because Matt is an ally.



Freda, a trans-sex worker living in Los Angeles, befriends her widowed neighbor, Early Landry, from Mississippi, but the intricate lifestyles make her relationship extremely difficult.

Official: Country Is Cool Again

With the critical success of Kacey Musgraves "Golden Hour", i-D Magazine has declared 2018 is the year for country. According to the magazine, many big artists are pivoting to country, like Kylie Minogues latest country-disco effort, and Justins "Mayo In The Woods" before that. Obviously, Joanne is a gem on your tasseled country button up.

Country has breached the mainstream and it's subject matter is more relevant than ever. Songs are now bridging queerness with the ultra masculine 'bro-music' which has prevailed for so long. The magazine namedrops newer artists like Kacey Musgraves, for being at the forefront of that much needed change. Others, like Jessica Lea Mayfield, and Orville Peck are the torchbearer's of 'country cool' alongside the queen of country, Dolly Parton- who has maintained an LGBTQ+ ally for four decades.

Meet the designer behind Janelle Monáe's vagina pants!

Move over, Björk! Designer Duran Lantink, stylist Alexandra Mandelkorn, and Janelle Monáe are responsible for one of the decade's most iconic looks: the vagina pants featured in Monáe's video for PYNK.

Director Emma Westenberg requested that designer Lantink create seven pitches for outfits for the PYNK MV that had a "vagina look and feel." In the end, the vagina pants won out, with each pair individually made using stretch cotton, pleated silk, tulle, and silk. (Unfortunately, there are no plans to bring the pants to market.)

In the video, no two pair of vagina pants is the same, with each featuring unique shapes, colours, and fabrics:




In addition, two dancers did not wear vagina pants at all, leading some fans to speculate whether or not the dancers were intended to represent trans women:


PYNK continues to win over both critics and fans with its vibrant visuals and unabashed celebration of self love and sexuality, as well as Monáe and Tessa Thompson's intersectional approach to feminism and womanhood.


For many, PYNK is a welcome celebration of black women, their bodies, and their sexualities, all the while reminding us that celebrating ones body is not in and of itself an exclusionary act. Monáe and Thompson's responses made no apologies but instead opened the door to further dialogue and assuaged the concerns of many fans.

Model Munroe Bergdorf, former Labor LGBT adviser and L'Oreal's first transgender model, has won Cosmo UK's Disrupter/Changemaker of the Year Award. Runner up was author and blogger Chidera Eggerue.

Bergdorf resigned from her role with the Labor Party after a history of homophobic tweets had been revealed.

Other winners included Caroline Flack for Best Celebrity influencer, YouTubers Sophie and Dave for best newcomers and Roxxsaurus for best beauty influencer.

Mulan movie cuts out Li Shang

It's being reported today that Li Shang has been cut out of the Mulan movie.

This is due to a casting notice sent out months ago that did not include Li Shang but included a new character Chen Honghui as his replacement.

The casting notice has just been confirmed to be real because Donnie Yen was cast as Commander Tung who is a new character that is included in the casting notice.

People are also saying Li Shang was cut from the movie because he is popular in the LGBT community.
